"Electra" shell top foxfibre® colorganic®

from $80.00

One of the first items of clothing that I had made out of the cotton, once it was spun and knit at Texas Tech in the late ‘80’s, was this simple shell top. I had many versions of it made over the years and still they are wearable…although I have sort of grown out of the size that once fit me. Elaine Hamblin of Kosa Arts made the pattern for this narrow width “Electra” jacquard knit fabric with a goal of being close to zero waste. By constructing the back out of two side remnant pieces from the top- she succeeded! The cut and sew facility in San Francisco used only the sewing thread spun by Taishobo of Japan out of the “Coyote” brown and Sea Island cotton grown by Alvarez Farms in New Mexico. The labels were kindly supplied by my good friends at Spiritex - eco-printed on their organic 1x1 rib made from organic combed cotton grown in Texas. This entirely US and organically grown shell is offered in 4 sizes that are generous and meant to be altered to be more snug if desired. I accept no exchanges, or returns so please make sure that the size is at least what you all need. You can always take it in, but not so easy to make it larger. Marcella (my daughter) who is 5’9” is modeling a size small in the cotton breeding nursery 2020 crop year. There are photos here of unwashed- how you will receive them, and photos after at least 6 laundering’s so you can see what happens, at least for me. Now I will describe the measurements with dimension after washing. The shrinkage is primarily in the length, not the width, even after multiple launderings.
After 6+ laundering’s : Small: length 20.5”, width at lower armhole : 19” . Medium: length 24”, width at lower armhole: 19.5”. Large: length : 25.5” , width at lower armhole : 20”. Extra Large: length : 25”, width at lower armhole : 22” . Photos of the sizes are included as best that I can capture them. For some reason the sew facility forgot to sew the size small labels in, so, I include them with a $5 discount to the price. You can sew the label on anywhere you chose. Maybe like the original one? it is the last photo. No returns or exchanges.
