Colorganic® Handspinner's Cotton Breeding Club

from $200.00

Spots for students will open Feb 1: first zoom class session will be March 7, 2024 3 PM PST.

Want to join my hand spinner’s cotton breeding club?  This year- 2024 - there will be a few options. For those of you who already are growing cottons and have your own seeds who just want to be part of the Zoom club, select the Zoom Sessions Only option below. For those who want me to send them seeds and the whole supply kit- little mesh bags to cover the flowers with and the labels, etc. pick one of the other options. Those spots will open up on February 1, 2024. Before paying any money for the options where I send seeds to you, first, if you are located within an area where cotton is grown commercially, check with your County Department of Agriculture. Once you are approved by them, please email to me their response. In many places the county wants to place a boll weevil or a pink bollworm trap. In other areas, they do not allow cotton to be grown at all. Or they only allow white cottons (hence my having to move research farms twice). Then if you want to learn how to cross pollinate white cottons to get the longest fibers with the highest yielding plant, or to work with naturally colorful and particularly vigorous cottons just select that category below. I will send to you the seeds that you will need to plant, along with supplies required. We will meet on a Zoom session the first Thursday of every month beginning on March 7th at 3 PM PST. On the Zoom sessions I will teach you how to make cross pollinations and share how to keep track of the seeds which develop. With the seeds I will send bags and tags for that sort of thing. I reserve the right to select people and or places most suitable for each type of seed. This is for people who wish to support my work with these cottons and not compete with the only way that I support this research.
